Accessibility Statement

Last updated:

We want people to be able to explore GIFFH’s work and contact us without unnecessary barriers. This statement explains the support available and how to report a difficulty.

Features available

  • A “Skip to content” link and visible keyboard-focus styles.
  • Layouts that adapt to smaller screens, with light and dark themes.
  • Text alternatives for editorial images and labelled navigation.
  • Biography dialogs with a Close button, Escape support, and focus returned to the opening button.
  • Project filtering and pagination with status announcements and keyboard-operable links.

Assessment and limitations

We use automated checks to review aspects of the website’s accessibility. A complete manual and assistive-technology audit has not been completed, so we do not claim full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Screen-reader compatibility, browser zoom, and keyboard and touch behaviour across all pages have not yet been comprehensively verified. The quality of image descriptions and any linked documents or videos also affects accessibility.

JavaScript enables in-place filtering, pagination, image viewers, calendar exports, and biography dialogs. Without it, the main navigation, email links, project and event content, and inline biography disclosures remain available. Enhanced gallery zoom and pagination controls are unavailable.

Report a barrier or request another format

Email info@giffh.org with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the difficulty you experienced. If helpful, include your browser or assistive technology. You do not need to disclose a disability or medical information.

If you cannot access particular information, tell us what you need and your preferred format so we can discuss available assistance.

Reviewing this statement

We will update this statement as the website is assessed and changed. Its structure follows W3C guidance for accessibility statements, which recommends describing actual support and known limitations in plain language.
